THE EMORY AND SURRENNE INTRODUCE FIRST URBAN WELLNESS RETREAT ‘CITY CIRCADIAN RESET’

The Emory – London’s first all-suite hotel and a modern architectural masterpiece – introduces the ‘City Circadian Reset’: a wellness retreat crafted with the capital as its inspiration, and a mission to ground, recharge and regenerate guests.  Below the hotel sits Surrenne Belgravia, London’s foremost wellbeing and longevity members club, spanning four subterranean floors.  The retreat’s unique programme – tailored bespoke for each guest – blends time in this groundbreaking wellness epicentre, with standout luxury within The Emory and its metropolitan surroundings.

Surrenne Belgravia is the first iteration and epicentre of Surrenne – Maybourne’s global wellbeing and longevity brand.  City Circadian Reset has been created to echo the Surrenne philosophy and The Emory’s essence of time well spent, in a concentrated period of self-restoration. The retreat is a guided stay available for two nights or more, designed to correct the circadian rhythm, which is the body’s natural, internal 24-hour clock that helps to regulate sleep, alertness, metabolism and hormone release, driven primarily by light and darkness. Grounded in science, the urban retreat is led by an expert team that includes specialist practitioners providing one-to-one consultations and support throughout, personalised treatments and therapies, rituals to support the guests’ circadian rhythm and considered dining to support gut health, energy release and deep rest.

The City Circadian Reset at The Emory includes:

  • A 60-minute consultation with Surrenne’s medical lead*, followed by a bespoke retreat programme including exercise prescription and supplement plan (scans and blood tests can be arranged by the Retreat Concierge at an additional cost)
  • A fitness consultation including body composition analysis and VO2 max analysis
  • Surrenne Belgravia membership for the duration of the stay
  • Daily studio classes, including Tracy Anderson classes, which are exclusive to the UK

Prior to their stay at The Emory – which boasts 61 extraordinary suites – guests’ goals, requirements and priorities are identified. Upon arrival, they are met by their personal Retreat Concierge, they bypass the traditional check in process and instead receive a guided tour of Surrenne Belgravia to introduce the club, floor by floor, machine by machine, before being whisked up to their suite to be checked in privately.  Retreat guests’ suites are thoughtfully curated – compression boots for post-workout recovery and an LED light panel are provided with advice on when to use for best benefits, a wellness book selected from Surrenne Belgravia’s Longevity Library according to the guests’ priorities, and the complementary mini bar’s contents are crafted with wellness in mind. These include electrolytes, chilled 111SKIN eye masks, kombucha, magnesium and CBD drinks, cold pressed juices and adaptogenic chocolate.

The retreat programme features expertly created wellness moments for the guest:

Mornings start with a ritual exposing the guest to sunlight, and mindful local walks in Hyde Park (a stone’s throw from The Emory) come with provided meditation.  The hotel concierge team can direct guests to the city’s most legendary and eclectic shopping, with Harrods, Harvey Nichols and artisanal Pavilion Road all a short jog away, and should guests wish to exercise in privacy, the custom made Surrenne gym trolley is rolled into their suite. Surrenne’s team will say goodnight with mindfulness – one night, with an in-suite solo, guided cacao ceremony complete with adaptogenic mushroom powder for ultimate calm, the next, with a wellness mocktail (or cocktail, reflecting Surrenne’s belief in balance) in The Emory Rooftop Bar with staggering views of London’s skyline at sunset.  Suite temperatures are specifically set for optimum sleep, and patches featuring a special selection of herbs are provided by prominent and beauty-editor-favourite acupuncturist Ross J Barr.

Three meals each day are included, with the most beneficial eating windows advised by the retreat team. Leading nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner Rose Ferguson – dubbed the ‘Queen of The Reset’ – has created an anti-inflammatory menu, which guests can choose to experience in Surrenne’s Café or in-suite. The Emory is also home to abc kitchens by world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten who embodies the ‘eat the rainbow’ philosophy and who explored veganism ahead of its time.  Surrenne’s doctors highlight the most intentional dishes from its menu of vibrant, organic and locally sourced cooking.

Time spent in Surrenne Belgravia allows the guest to experience the club’s unparalleled facilities and attention to detail – underwater speakers allow guests to swim to a music programme designed by neuroscientists to support cognitive enhancement, cold and heat exposure comes from the club’s snow shower and sauna, and a hydrogen tap provides guests with anti-inflammatory drinking water, alkalised for the body to boost brain function.

Upon departure, retreat guests leave with a month-long supplement prescription and their gym kit freshly laundered by The Emory team. A follow up virtual consultation a month post-retreat ensures the guest benefits from the City Circadian Reset beyond their stay.

*Surrenne’s medical services are conducted in partnership with SOLICE Health, with two of the most respected figures in private medicine at the helm of the team: Dr Liza Osagie-Clouard and Dr Tim Evans.   Dr Osagie-Clouard, named one of London’s best concierge doctors, is an award-winning orthopaedic surgeon who trained in both New York and London.
