The team behind Claridge’s world-famous floral installations opens Claridge’s Flowers, with bricks and mortar workshop and store on Brooks Mews and ‘Flowers After Hours’ Masterclasses
Every day, people from all over the world walk into Claridge’s, Mayfair’s legendary hotel, and stop to admire, photograph and sit beside the flowers. Now guests, neighbours and visitors alike can take the same sensational blooms home with the opening of the Claridge’s Flowers shop, where florals are created and sold with the hotel’s signature imagination, craft and care.
Newly situated behind the hotel, on Brooks Mews, the beating heart of Claridge’s Flowers is a flower and work shop where seasonal flowers and foliage can be bought by the stem, simply wrapped for customers to arrange at home, or in extraordinary hand tied bouquets. Fresh flowers are delivered to the workshop every morning, filling every inch of the space, before the team gather at a central counter to prepare and condition each stem, ready for the day ahead. An abundance of seasonal flowers – including, of course, best of British blooms – span the store, from dahlias to delphinium, hellebores to hydrangeas. These are interspersed with rows of beautiful, coloured glassware and artisanal vases, ready for the teams’ creations. Pop in and catch a glimpse behind the scenes with all the same theatre and energy found throughout the hotel itself – find the workshop team of six crafting spectacular florals for customers, the local community, hotel guests, celebrations and events, bouquets to whiz across town, surprise posies for guests rooms and more. Visitors will be taken under the wing of this talented and knowledgeable team, and can leave with a wrap of seasonal stems from £25, or creations where the sky’s the limit.
Floral green waste is collected daily from Claridge ’s Flowers, 52 weeks of the year. This – including all of the hotel’s Christmas trees – is transported close by to the royal parks, composted and returned to UK growers within 16–20 weeks.
The Brooks Mews workshop will also be home to ‘Flowers After Hours’ – a series of evening masterclasses where guests can have fun with florals, guided by the floristry team, complete with cocktails, in true Claridge’s style. Joining Claridge’s Bakery and the hotel’s ArtSpace Café, Claridge’s Flowers is the newest addition to the hive of activity situated on Brooks Mews.
Flowers are also available to order online at claridgesflowers.co.uk, with signature bouquets starting from £75.
Founder Richard Eagleton says: ‘Claridge’s Flowers brings exceptional floristry and the legendary service of Claridge’s together in one very special flower shop. We can’t wait to meet our customers and community and create wonderful things for them, for years to come. It is an honour to become part of the history of this iconic hotel.’
Claridge’s Managing Director Thomas Kochs says: ‘I am delighted that Claridge’s Flowers is opening its doors to the community of Mayfair and more. Our guests and visitors talk to me at length about our floral installations, which are a core part of the hotel’s DNA. How wonderful that we can now allow them to take these same flowers home with them.’
Claridge’s Flowers, Brooks Mews is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sundays 11am-3pm. claridgesflowers.co.uk
