I have found 1970 a particularly dependable vintage in Bordeaux. This bottle unluckily followed a faultless and sublime 100 point 1982 Pichon Lalande, so unfortunately the traditional tobacco and cigar box characteristics that I usually adore looked a little stereotyped. However, the herbaceous eucalypt and camphor that followed defied such linear observations and sufficiently held my interest. The fair to medium palette weight and balance seemed a little clunky compared to the Pichon, but really what wouldn’t have? I think this bottle in proper context would have been a far better experience (7/12/07 92 points).
